On 1992, the Faculty council has established a prize to be awarded every year to the most distinguished scientific work in each branch of basic sciences (Mathematics, Physics, Chemistry, Geology, Botany and Zoology). The value of each prize was L.E. 500 and recently increased to be L.E. 1000.
A supreme board chaired by the vice-dean for graduate studies and research takes care of this prize. A strong competition between the active researchers is found before the end of December every year, the dead line for application for the prize.
Other prizes, local, national or international are also available for all Competators:

2- Prof. Dr. Soliman Hozaien Prize in Basic Sciences
3- Prof. Dr. Mohamed A. Lotfi Prize in Physics
